Last week, we broke a world record by fitting 26 people into a Mini Cooper. This feat was achieved because a number of people came together to function as a group. Through creative thinking and collaboration, we transcended the individual and did something truly… well, amazing. Here are a few photos from the day we packed the Mini. (Thanks to Nathan Ma for helping us take photos that day!)
We asked our collaborators to comment on their experience. Here are a few of their comments:
I have collaborated with strangers in dance movement but never task-based compacting poses. The Mini Cooper challenge really proved to me how close-knit the dance world is and how adaptable we are in problem-solving with people we have never met. Thanks for this awesome opportunity!

I loved how inclusive this experience was. We weren’t just moving for a choreographer or following your instructions, but figuring out how to solve the problem as a group. I genuinely felt welcomed into the Pilobolus family rather than just being a person hired to be small and sit in the back seat.
- Daniele Kohn
I was inspired by how generous and focused everyone was with their time and bodies. I literally did not hear a single complaint from anyone! I only hope I can find more people to work with that are as focused, dedicated, and professional as the members of Pilobolus.

To have a group that large not even know each other and accomplish such a task is something to be in awe of. I’m not going to lie. I was very nervous about how potentially dangerous this could have been, but the structured experimenting and calm communications established right from the start made it such a smooth process and a worry-free zone. I really admire how Pilobolus approached this task and appreciated the openness to everyone’s ideas and suggestions. It was true team work at its best with great leadership! I am grateful to have been included!

Again, thank you to everybody who participated in this record-breaking event.
